migraines

It has been several days, and I have to apologize for not blogging.  The problem is, I have migraines and the last one sent me to the ER and in bed for several days on serious meds.  Anyone else out there suffer from this debilitating disease?  It is a bit hard to use the computer or make art when you can't see and you feel like your head is exploding or a pitchfork is somehow trapped and pulsating in your brain.  Nasty stuff, but what was kind of interesting is that lately I have been getting visual auras with the migraines and the shapes I see are extremely similar to the swirly shapes I use in my art.  Pretty cool, huh?  Anyway, it makes me feel a little closer to Picasso, though I hope I treat the people in my life a lot better than he supposedly did!

Just Sold a Piece

So, exciting news to anyone who is out there. .. I just sold 3 pieces at the Store at the DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum; and I just sold Creation, which is the first pieces I uploaded to this blog.  Very exciting!.  Any artists out there who want to share their exciting selling-stories, I would love to hear.

days 30-35

I want to take a moment to remember all those men, women, and children who lost their lives in the 9/11 attack.  May their deaths teach all of us to love one another, learn from each other, and foster peace among all peoples.  This prayer is a few days late, but I think what makes 9/11, and in fact all acts of violence, so terrifyingly moving is that we then know that each day is precious, no matter what day of the year or month it is.  It is never too late to apologize, to change, to renew.  Anyway, just thought I would add something other than mere art to today's post.

now, here for some more pictures.  I think I was feeling the emotional chaos that 9/11 recalls in some of these, as well as some personal chaos too.

days 21-29

Here are days 21-29.  I have been working hard to catch up and then falling behind as life takes over.  I have found that when I do one card, it inspires me to do another and explore a similar theme, until I run out of ideas and revert back to older themes, which then transform over time.  The joy of this challenge is not so much the outcome of each piece, but the process that goes into creating something almost everyday--or at least something that represents each day.  I hope that as September continues, I will be able to do just one piece a day and let each card gestate for 24 hours to see how they change over time, rather than by making them in bunches.  I would love to hear from anyone who reads this blog.  Feel free to comment or share your own creative thoughts . . .
